This lists him as a blacksmith in Colkirk Norfolk; his wife Mary born 1811; Daughters: Sarah Ann born 1840, Frances born 1842, Elizabeth born 1845, Margaret born 1847, Emma born 1849, Eliza born 1851 and ? Eastick born 1875. My interest is researching the History of the Forge..

GOLDSMITH Alfred Frederick Blacksmith 1847 Alfred Frederick Goldsmith, blacksmith (Always called Frederick). Born about 1847, Wembley/Harrow Middlesex. Baptised at St. Mary's in Harrow on 10 Aug 1845. Died 14 Jan 1929 in Bushey, Hertfordshire. In the 1851 and 1861 censuses, he is living with his parents,  William and Peggy, in Wembley, Harrow, Middlesex.  The 1871 UK census lists him as (Frederick) 24yrs, married, at Primitive Methodist Chapel, Bushy, Hertfordshire. Also listed: his father William Goldsmith (born 1809) blacksmith; mother Peggy 58yrs. Sister Louisa Goldsmith, married, 19yrs; brother Henry Thomas. 13yrs (scholar). Alfred’s widowed sister Harriett Ness 33yrs & her children Georgina Ness 5yrs; Frederick Ness 3yrs; Florence Ness 10months infant. In 1881, he is living with his widowed father, widowed sister Harriet and other siblings in Bushey, Dist. 6.  In 1891 and 1901, he is in Bushey, Dist.8, with sister Harriet (listed mistakenly as his mother-in-law in 1891).  Alfred Goldsmith, blacksmith. Took over The Old Forge in Bushey, from his father William (Snr) circa 1880-1920. HULL Alfred Frederick Blacksmith 1849 Alfred Hull, blacksmith. Born 1849 in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The 1851 census lists Alfred as a 1 year infant. Parents Thomas Hull 48yrs (ag. labourer) and Hannah 43yrs. Siblings: seven listed. From 1861 still with his parents. In the 1871 census Alfred is 20yrs, a blacksmith boarding with blacksmith Reason Smith and his sister Emma. Can’t see him in 1881. In 1891 Alfred 40yrs, a steam engine maker, fitter in West Ham Essex. Wife Mary. A. 35yrs (born Kentish Town, London). Children: Thomas 9yrs, Richard 8yrs, Lucy 3yrs..

I have no other information. No contact noted  
LINES George Blacksmith 1795 George Lines, blacksmith. Born 1795 in Bower Heath & died in 1880 Ridge, Hertfordshire. George was the son of Joseph Lines also in B.H. Wife Anne Dickerson from Kimpton. Sons William 1819 -1899, George 1821 - 1878, Edmund 1824- 1911, Sarah 1826 -1901, Samuel 1829 - 1896, John (my Great Grandfather) 1832 -1910 (died in South Australia) Eliza Harriet 1835 -1876. All sons also Blacksmiths. Only John Lines left England for Australia..

The 1851 census shows him as 48yrs and wife Mary 47yrs born Bedfordshire. Daughters: Hannah 20yrs, Mary 12yrs both born hexton.. No contact noted  
PARKIN John James Blacksmith 1879 John James Parkin, blacksmith. Born Aston Birmingham in 1879 and died at Bushy Herts 1944. He was a Farrier & Blacksmith at the Old Forge, Bushy Herts UK. 1900-1920's he also provided horses for haulage, which were stabled at a Public House named The Horse and Chains. At the same time he was a Fireman for 15 years in the Bushy Fire Brigade, also supplying the horses. Photo from the Bushy Museum. John is the small man on the right of the picture, the other man is believed to have worked with him..

I have documentation of a non-conformist adult Baptism and also a certificate for the apprenticeship of Geo. Newton, presumably a relative of Maria..

The 1851 UK census lists him as 39yrs, living at Water End, Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire with his family. In 1861 Edmund was 43yrs, at Brydens Camp, Great Gaddesden; with wife Sarah 45yrs & daughter Rachel Carter 12yrs. See Blacksmiths of Hertfordshire for parents and other family members..

The 1851 UK census lists him as 78yrs (infirm), at Water End, Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire; with wife Elizabeth 57yrs. Children listed: George 33yrs, unmarried; Edmund 39yrs,unmarried (blacksmith); Jane 18yrs, unmarried. Visitor: Fanny Maira Shepherd 6yrs(smith’s daughter). Joseph was a blacksmith in Piccott's Lane, nr Great Gaddesden, Hemel Hempstead sometime between 1840 and 1860, his sons William and Edmund also seem to have been blacksmiths according to 1851 and 1861 Census returns..  
SUCKLING Martin Blacksmith 1828 Martin Suckling, carried on blacksmithing from his father Thomas. Martin's son William was also a blacksmith.. No contact noted  
SUCKLING Thomas Blacksmith 1776 Thomas Suckling was a smith & farrier and a constable in Widford Hertfordshire around 1776. His sons were also blacksmiths and his business was transferred to his son Martin in 1828 and was continued by his son William Suckling until middle 80’s I believe. Any information you can pass on to me would be well received.. No contact noted

WARNER George Blacksmith 1759 George Warner baptised 9th Dec 1759 Welwyn, Herts, parents Charles Warner & Sarah Andrew. Married Susannah Williams 24 Dec 1787 Cheshunt, Herts. Listed as a ‘smith’ in baptism records of William Perry Warner in 1798 and Sarah in 1800. Moved to Waltham Abbey, Essex and became a licensed victualler in Sun Street. Died 21 Feb 1839 aged 79..
