RAINE James Blacksmith 1858 James Raine, blacksmith. Born circa 1858 at Temple Sowerby, Westmorland, England. The 1881 UK census lists James as aged 23yrs unmarried, working for Joseph Sisson, blacksmith, of Temple Sowerby.  
SANDERSON John Blacksmith 1816 John Sanderson, blacksmith journeyman, Born about 1816, Westmorland , England. The 1841 UK census lists John as 25yrs, living in Temple Sowerby, Westmorland with master blacksmith William & Hannah SISSON.  
SISSON David Hill Blacksmith 1857 David Hill Sisson, blacksmith. Born 11th Oct ober1857, Temple Sowerby, Westmorland, England and died 19 May 1935, in Auckland, NZ. David and his brother, John Wilson Sisson (Jnr), emigrated to Australia, bringing the first pair of Clydesdale horses to New South Wales, as well as racehorses to their mother's brothers; George and John Faint, in 1883, to "Spring Valley", Armidale, NSW . Thomas Sisson, their other brother, came out later, with his wife, Eliza, to Australia and returned to England for a few years then went to live in New Zealand. David Hill Sisson is also listed in Interesting Stories (on the Home Page). See Blacksmiths of Durham for other Sisson family members. One son Les Sisson was a blacksmith who remained in Australia.  
SISSON John Wilson (Snr) Blacksmith 1823 John Wilson Sisson (Snr), born 25th December 1823, Temple Sowerby, Westmorland, England. The 1851 census for North Westmorland lists him as blacksmith at Temple Sowerby. Wife: Ann Gregson Faint. John and Ann lived at Dufton, Appleby, Westmorland. SISSON Joseph Blacksmith 1830 Joseph Sisson, blacksmith. Born before 20th February 1830, Temple Sowerby, Westmorland, England and died in 1907. Wife: Elizabeth Oldcorn. See Blacksmiths of Durham and Blacksmiths of Australia and Interesting Stories Link for other Sissons. Other information/publications: 'The local blacksmith of Temple Sowerby, Westmorland.' ( Television profile of Cecil BEATON, world-famous photographer, Joseph’s grandson). His wife and family of six daughters lived first at the blacksmith shop, at Temple Sowerby, and later at The Cedars beside the main road ("My Bolivar Aunt", by Cecil BEATON).  
SISSON William Blacksmith 1799 William Sisson, blacksmith. Born 20 January 1799, Sunderland, Durham, England. A blacksmith in 1829. The 1841 UK census lists William as 40yrs, living at Temple Sowerby , Kirby Thore, Westmorland with wife Hannah Johanna Lowther 40yrs. Children: John 15yrs; Maryann 15yrs; Sarah 13yrs; Joseph 11yrs; William 7yrs; Thomas 2yrs infant. In 1851 still at Temple Sowerby, William is 52yrs. Also listed in Blacksmiths of Durham along with other family members.  
WHITEHEAD Oliver Blacksmith 1780 Oliver Whitehead,a Master Blacksmith was born around 1780; living at Sower Pow (mud puddle) Kirkby Stephen Westmorland England with his wife Elizabeth Bennett.
