The 1861 UK census lists John as 13yrs, apprentice to master blacksmith John Wood at East Fen, Leake , Lincolnshire. In 1971 John is 25yrs, unmarried, a blacksmith living at Bennington Lincolnshire.    
ARNOLD Samuel Blacksmith 1832 Samuel Arnold, blacksmith. Born about 1832 in Binham, Norfolk, England. The 1851 UK census lists Samuel as 18yrs, living in Walsingham, Norfolk with his grandmother Mary Arnold 84yrs, widow, Annuitant plus siblings: Charles 20yrs & Rebecca 17yrs. Listed in Blacksmiths Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
ARRAND Robert Blacksmith 1797 Robert Arrand, blacksmith. Born 1797 in Amcotts, bapt 24 Apr 1797 in Althorpe, Lincoln, England. In 1818 Robert aged 21yrs was imprisoned for 6mths. Robert married Mary Walker on 19 May 1822 at Barrow upon Humber, Lincolnshire, England. They had two sons Samuel born 1826 and Thomas born 1828, info from Ancestry.com.  
ATKINSON Thomas Blacksmith 1796 Thomas Atkinson, blacksmith. Born aout 1796 in Rippingale, Lincolnshire, England. The 1841 UK census lists Thomas as 45yrs, living at Waten Street, Rippingale with wife Ann 35yrs. Children: Sarah 14yrs, Thomas 10yrs, Jos 8yrs, Zaccheus 2yrs.    
AVISON Charles Blacksmith 1849 Charles Avison, blacksmith. Born about 1849, in New Leake, Boston, Lincolnshire, England. Married Sarah Jane Parker in 1872 in Spilsby, Lincolnshire. The 1881 UK census lists Charles as 31yrs, living in Eastville,Lincolnshire with wife Sarah 37yrs. Children: John.A. 7yrs and Frederick.E. 3yrs. Charles was the son of an Agricultural labourer, Abraham Avison. Charles died aged 52 years in the registration district of Boston, Lincolnshire, England.  
BAINES Charles Blacksmith 1827 Charles Baines, blacksmith. Born in Utterby, Lincolnshire 1827. Baptised in Utterby, Lincolnshire., on 7th January 1827.He is listed in the 1851 Census in Holton-le-Clay as a Blacksmith. His wife, Mary was the daughter of the Blacksmith William West and his wife Elizabeth. He was in Grainsby in 1861 as an Agricultural Labourer, but in 1871, 1881 and 1891 he was in Middlesborough, Yorkshire as Blacksmith and Grocer. Also listed in Blacksmiths of Yorkshire Index.  
BEE James Fox Blacksmith 1835 James Fox Bee, blacksmith. Born 1835 North Forty Foot Bank, Fosdyke Fen, Lincolnshire, England. Parents: James Bee and Elizabeth Fox (Married 24th May 1830 - All Saints Anglican, Wellingore, Lincolnshire). Wife: Elizabeth Franklin Hammond, married 1st October 1863 Chapelry of Holland Fen, Lincolnshire. They had seven(7) children - Elizabeth Franklin, Lydia, John Hammond, James, Susan, William and Alfred. The later five were born in Church Lane, Croft, Lincolnshire where James was the local Blacksmith for approx 40 years from late 1860's to early 1900's. He died 2 May 1910 in Yorkshire where he was living with his daughter Lydia.

The 1851 UK census lists Joseph as 61yrs, living in Bardolf Bank, Wisbeach, Norfolk. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
BENSTEAD William Blacksmith 1820 William Benstead, master blacksmith. Born1820-1821 in Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, England. The 1861 UK census lists William as 40yrs, living in Lakes End, Wisbeach, Norfolk with wife Susan 46yrs (born Upwell, Cambridgeshire). Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
BLACKMORE Thomas Blacksmith 1853 Thomas Blackmore, blacksmith. Born about 1853, Gendy, Lincolnshire, England. The 1871 UK census lists him as 18yrs, boarding with and apprentice to master blacksmith Elkanah Wing and family. In 1881 Thomas is 28yrs, a farm blacksmith at Ludborough, Lincolnshire; with wife Sarah.A. 26yrs and son George 1yr infant. The 1891 census: Thomas is 38yrs; Sarah. A. 37yrs. Children: George 11yrs; Thomas 9yrs; Frank 6yrs; Harold 1yr infant.    
BLAND John Blacksmith 1722 John Bland, blacksmith. Born 7th February 1722. Died 25th March 1797. Wife Jane Woodcock, married 17th October 1747 at Irnham Lincolnshire. He had many Descendants who carried on the tradition of Blacksmith.  
BLAND William (Jnr) Blacksmith 1785 William Bland (Jnr), blacksmith. Born 1758, Folkingham, Lincolnshire, England. William (Jnr) was the illigitimate son of William Bland of Folkingham was born in 1785. He inherited the tools of the trade from his father whose Will confirms the illegitimacy and that he was "otherwise Maltby". William appears to have worked in the family business before his step mother sold it to Ishmael Hammer in 1835. Census and Trade Directories indicate that he traded under his own account between 1835 and 1863. The census of 1871 records him to be a "Retired Blacksmith". He died in 1873. His son William Bland also entered the trade.  
BLAND William (Snr) Blacksmith 1758 William Bland (Snr), blacksmith. Born 1758, in Folkingham, Lincolnshire, England. Son of John Bland mentioned above and Jane. The business of J & W Bland is listed in the Universal British Trade Directory of 1794. William died in 1831 leaving his tools to his son William. The business appears to have continued to be carried on in the name of William\'s Widow Mary. The Rectory Gates at Folkingham are listed as a good example of the work of the village Blacksmith. These were erected in the Georgian period and despite some suggestion that they were made by another Blacksmith Ismael Hammer, evidence has come to light that Mary Bland sold the Ironmongery and Smith\'s business to Ishmael Hammer in 1835. This provides strong evidence that the Gates were more likely made by John & William Bland.  
BLOW William Blacksmith 1843 William Blow, blacksmith. Born about 1843 in Hull, Yorks. He is listed in the 1861 Census as Apprenticed to Thomas West (1830) in Beelsby.  
BRIGHTON George Blacksmith 1771 George Brighton, blacksmith. Born about 1772 in Lincolnshire, England. The 1841 UK census lists George as 65yrs, wife Patience 60yrs, living in Sutton St Mary, Lincolnshire. George was listed as a blacksmith on baptism of daughter Mahala Brighton 24.5.1806 (see FreeReg web site). Wife Patience nee Bolland, married 16th April 1799 in Long Sutton. There is a second for Mahala - Christened 24th May 1807 at Long Sutton, Lincoln, England (see familysearch.org). They had several children.  
BRIGHTON George Blacksmith 1830 George Brighton, blacksmith, chain maker. Born about 1830 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England. The 1841 UK census lists George as 11yrs living in Gainsborough with his father John 40yrs, mother Sarah 35yrs. Siblings: Sarah 8yrs; James 4yrs. Other listed: Sarah Brighton 75yrs; Robert Brighton 20yrs; Jno Farmer 40yrs; George Watkinson 20yrs and Jane Airey 18yrs. In 1851 George is 21yrs, lodging in Gainsborough with Samuel Smith (a general labourer) and family. 1861: George is 31yrs, wife Charlotte 31yrs (born Gainsborough). Children: Charlotte 10yrs and John. W. 10yrs. Living with Charlotte’s mother Maria Wakes 53yrs, widow, in ‘Gibbins Square’ Gainsborough.  
BROWN Henry Blacksmith 1810 Henry Brown, blacksmith. Born about 1810 Lakenheath, Suffolk, England. The 1841 UK census lists Henry as 31yrs, living in Lakenheath. Henry married Elizabeth Piggott, schoolmistress ,on Christmas Day 1841, at Lakenheath. Elizabeth was the unmarried mother of John Piggott born 1833, who became a blacksmith.    
BRYAN William Blacksmith 1791 William Bryan, blacksmith. Born about 1791 at Tetney, Lincolnshire, England and died in 1851 of Cancer of the face aged 60yrs old. William worked as a Blacksmith at Tetney in early 19th Century. Parents John and Mary.  
BURNETT William(Billy) Blacksmith 1908 William(Billy) Burnett, blacksmith. Born 1908 in Snelland, Lincolnshire. Worked as a blacksmith in Snelland. Father: William Burnett. Aunt: Edith Burnett who married Frank Dale 1885 of Great Carlton who was also a blacksmith in Great Carlton, as was his son until retirement.  
BUTCHER Richard Blacksmith 1803 Richard Butcher, blacksmith. Born about 1803 in Lincolnshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Richards as 48yrs, living in Gultry, Emneth, Wisbeach, Norfolk with wife Mary 43yrs (born Emneth, Norfolk). Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
BUTCHER Robert Blacksmith 1812 Robert Butcher, blacksmith journeyman. Born about 1812 in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Robert as 39yrs, living in Docking, Norfolk with wife Phoebe 38yrs (born Snettisham, Norfolk). Children: Marui 16yrs, William 13yrs, Robert.A. 7yrs, James 4yrs, Eliza 1yr infant. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
CAMPION Charles Christmas Blacksmith 1823 Charles Christmas Campion, blacksmith. Born about1823, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, England. The 1841 UK census lists Charles.C. as 18yrs, living in Wind Mill Street Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire with his parents Charles & Mary, plus siblings. 1851: Charles is 27yrs, living in Windmill Street, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire with wife Ann.E. 32yrs (born Staffham, Norfolk). Children: Herbert.C. 5yrs; daughter C.J. 3yrs; Frederick.J. is a 1 month old nfant. Sarah Hardy 58yrs (nurse). In 1861 Charles is 38yrs, living in North Street Stamford, Lincolnshire, with wife Ann.E. 41yrs Children: Herbert.C. 15yrs; Frederick.J. 10yrs; Walter.H. 2yrs. Charles worked in Stamford from 1861 to 1905 as a Blacksmith. (See Blacksmiths of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire for family members).  
CAMPION Herbert.Chas. Blacksmith 1846 Herbert Chas. Campion, blacksmith. Born about 1846 in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Herbert as 5yrs, living in Whittlesey, with parents Charles Christmas Campion (blacksmith) and Ann. E . plus siblings. 1861 Herbert is 15yrs still with family. In 1881 Herbert is 37yrs living in Foundry Road, Stamford, Lincolnshire with wife Mary Jane 39yrs (born Isle of Wight). Children: Clara Jane 10yrs; Annie Louise 8yrs. CLEMENTS William Blacksmith 1820 William Clements, blacksmith. Born about 1820, Boston, Lincolnshire, England. The 1841 UK census lists William as 20yrs, lodging with master blacksmith Nicholas & Sarah Mableson. Also listed: Mary Clements 30yrs; Caroline Mableson 15yrs and Martha Mableson 15yrs.    
COVEL William Blacksmith 1813 William Covel, retired blacksmith. Born 9th May 1813. See the 1891 Census RG12/2580 Wellingore, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England.  
COVEL William Blacksmith 1840 1840: William Covel, journeyman, blacksmith. Born 26th March 1840. The 1891 Census RG12/2677 Arnold,. Gt Gt grandfather of Dominic.  
CURTIS Charles Blacksmith 1856 Charles Curtis, blacksmith. Born in March 1856 in Sculcoates, Hull, Yorkshire, England. The 1881 and 1891 UK census lists Charles as a blacksmith ?where. The 1901 census lists Charles as 45yrs, blacksmith, living at 6 Locked Terrace, Sculcoates. Wife: Christina 44yrs. Children: William 18yrs (a grocer’s porter); Charlie 13yrs; Gertrude 12yrs; Maud 5yrs; Dorothy 1yr infant. The 1911 census shows Charles as 55yrs, he has moved to Bracebridge Lincoln, still a blacksmith, it says ‘wrapper maker’. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.  
DALE Francis Blacksmith 1766 Francis Dale, blacksmith. Born abt 1766 [not Lincolnshire] He was buried 1846 in Kirmington. Wife Elizabeth [maiden name unknown] buried 1844 in Kirmington. He had three sons who became blacksmiths, Francis born abt 1797 [not Lincolnshire] Richard born 1805 & James born 1807 in Kirmington. These three men also had sons who were blacksmiths. The blacksmith's forge in Kirmington was run by the Dale family for many years.  
DEXTER Thomas Blacksmith 1876 Thomas Dexter ,blacksmith. Born about 1876 in Barton upon Humber. He is listed in the 1891 Census as apprenticed to John West (1857) in Searby.  
DOWSE Charles Blacksmith 1870 Charles Dowse, blacksmith. Born about 1870, at Wainfleet, Lincolnshire , England. The 1911 UK census for Alvingham, Lincolnshire lists Charles as "Blacksmith & Post Office". He is photographed outside the Blacksmiths Shop in Alvingham with his apprentice F.T. Phillipson shoeing a horse in October 1938. C  
ELSTON Edward Blacksmith 1795 Edward Elston, blacksmith. Born 8th November 1795 in Screveton Nottinghamshire, Wife Mary Mason born 15th March 1801 in Whatton,Notts, Edward was a blacksmith but his wife Mary was a teacher so they both moved to Claypole in Linconshire and worked as teachers there. Later on Edward became the Registrar of Births and Deaths in 1837 and his daughter Rebecca was the first child he registered ! Edward obviously carried on the work of Blacksmith in Claypole and later on his child Rebecca Elston married Charles Revill in Claypole and Charles carried on the work of Blacksmith there. I believe the Blacksmith's Forge was next door to The Woolpack Inn which also belonged to Edward ! The Woolpack is still there and I have a photo of it as it is today. Edward was one of my Great Grandparents,his brother John was another Great Grandparent and I am the product of their great grandchildren's marriage (cousins).  
EVANS George.H. Blacksmith 1834 George. H. Evans, blacksmith. Born about 1834-1835 in Boston Lincolnshire, England. The 1881 census shows him as a blacksmith living in Hackney, London. The 1891 census shows him as a blacksmith back in Boston Lincolnshire. Listed in Blacksmiths of London & Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire Indexes.  
GOULSON Joseph Blacksmith 1700 Joseph Goulson, blacksmith. Joseph is one of several Goulson family connected to the Lincolnshire, England blacksmith trade, the earliest known references being from the early 1700's but continuing through to the late 1800's. His father, Benjamin and mother Mary Page lived in Lincolnshire close to the counties Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. Many later census and historic directories note Goulson family in these counties associated with the blacksmith trade. Joseph has an interesting headstone, the inscription relates to his occupation and it appears he was a successful businessman as he owned property, land and a workshop in a village alongside the Great North Road (now known as the A1).

HAMMOND Thomas Blacksmith 1837 Thomas Hammond,blacksmith. Born about 1837 in Limber. He was listed in the 1851 Census as Apprenticed to William West (1828) in Beelsby.  
HARBOUR Thomas Blacksmith 1830 Thomas Harbour, blacksmith apprentice. Born about 1830 in Tidd St Giles, Lincolnshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Thomas as 20yrs, apprenticed to master blacksmith Joseph Rillett (b0rn 1814) and his family in West Walton, Cambridgeshire. Listed in Blacksmiths of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.    
HILES George David Blacksmith 1857 George David Hiles, master blacksmith. Born in 1857 at Corringham. Parents: John & Elizabeth Hiles. Presumably he learned his trade with his father. He married Harriet Stothard in 1879. By 1881 he is recorded as being Master Blacksmith at Corringham. They had six children who survived into adulthood. By 1893 he was renting a farm at Aisby near Corringham. In about 1900 he was farming at Manor farm, Messingham. In 1917 to 1919 he was farming at Low Mellwood, Owston Ferry, whilst his son Fred was still farming at Aisby. In about 1923 he bought the farm at Aisby. He retired to Messingham where he died in 1932. Both he and his wife Harried are buried in Messingham Churchyard.  
HILES John Blacksmith 1828 John Hiles, blacksmith. Born 1828 at Redbourne, Lincolnshire, England. John’s parents, John & Mary Hiles emigrated to Canada in about 1853. John remained in England. In 1841 John was recorded as being apprenticed to a blacksmith in Scotter Lincolnshire called Barker. In 1850 he married Elizabeth Ranyell of Susworth. By November 1851 they had settled at Corringham, John running his own blacksmith forge. They had four children, but only two survived into adulthood. Elizabeth, Johns wife died in 1873. In 1884 John remarried to a Mary Walker (nee Brocklesby), at this time the went to live at Owmby-by-Spittal, where John bought a cottage & eighteen acres of land. His son George David Hiles continued the Smithy business at Corringham. John died in 1887 and is buried in Corringham Churchyard with his first wife Elizabeth.  
HOWLING Joseph Blacksmith 1807 Joseph Howling, blacksmith master, market gardener, employs 1 man. Born 1807, Christened 1807 in Tydd Goat, Tydd-St Mary, Lincoln, England. Parents William and Mary G. Howling. See famiylsearch.org for BMDs. The 1851 UK census lists Joseph as 44yrs, living in Wisbech, Norfolk with wife Jane 43yrs (born Magdalen, Norfolk). In 1861 Joseph is 54yrs, now a market gardener and wife Jane is 52yrs. Children: Lucy.M. Howling 22yrs; Joseph Howling 21yrs, unmarried, gardeners son. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
HUDSON Charles (Christopher) William Blacksmith 1829 Charles (Christopher) William Hudson, blacksmith, farrier. Born 6th Jan 1829 in Thornton Le More, Lincolnshire, England to William & Frances Patchet Hudson. The 1851 UK Census lists Charle as 21yrs , apprenticed as a Journeyman Blacksmith to his brother-In-Law, William Torn, master blacksmith & farmer of 37 acres of Towser Inn, Hatton, Lincolnshire. In 1855, Charles departed Liverpool on Ship Ponoma, arrived in the Port of New York. 1855: Purchased land in Webster County, Iowa, USA. 1860 US Census - not located - family history has him traveling/sight-seeing in the uncharted western United States for about one year. On 20th April 1864Charles married Julia Etta Cheney, Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa. 1870 US Census shows him as married, father of 3 children. A farmer and stock raiser of considerable acreage in Webster County, Iowa, USA. 1879 s of Agriculture - owner of 355 acres. Charles died 16th Dec 1909. Buried alongside his wife in Otho Cemetery, Otho Township, Webster County, Iowa, USA. See Blacksmiths of USA & Lincolnshire.  
JANNEY Edward Hasnip Blacksmith 1850 Edward Hasnip Janney, blacksmith. Born 1850-1851 in Grimoldby, Lincolnshire,UK. He is listed in the 1881 Census as a Journeyman Smith in the household of Joseph West (1810). On 27th Feb.1882 he married Joseph's daughter Ann (or Annie) in Ashby cum Fenby, Lincs.He is listed in 1891 as a Blacksmith in Hogsthorpe, Lincs.  
LEE Edward Blacksmith 1808 Edward Lee, blacksmith. Born about 1808 in Wainfleet All Saints, Lincolnshire. The 1851 UK census lists Edward as 43yrs, unmarried, lodging at Clenchwarton, Cambridgeshire, Wisbech with Baines Pratt 31yrs (beer seller). Others listed: Edward Horspole 24yrs, married (ag. Labourer, brother-in-law of Baines Pratt); lodger William Hastilow 24yrs, unmarried (excavator); Lodger George Holmes 23yrs, unmarried (excavator). Edward is listed in Blacksmiths of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.    
MABLESON John Blacksmith 1797 John Marbleson, blacksmith. Born circa 1797. Parents: Nicholas(also a blacksmith) and Sarah Mableson. 1841 census lists John 43yrs,a blacksmith in Leake, Lincolnshire. Wife: Sarah 40yrs born Leake-LIN. Children: Eliza 13yrs, Charles 11yrs, Mahala 8yrs, Frederick 7yrs, Alfred 5yrs, and Jacob 1yr infant. He died in 1885 in Boston, Lincolnshire.  
MABLESON Nicholas Blacksmith 1771 Nicholas Marbleson, blacksmith. Born about 1771 in Boston,Lincolnshire,UK. 1841 census: living in Boston-LINC, 70yrs old. Wife Sarah 60yrs. Children: Caroline 15yrs, Martha 15yrs. Mary Clements 30yrs. William Clements 20yrs(blacksmith).  
MADINSON John Blacksmith 1844 John Madinson, blacksmith. Born about 1844, Leake, Lincolnshire, England. The 1861 UK census lists John as 17yrs, apprentice to master blacksmith John Wood at East Fen, Leake , Lincolnshire.    
ORANGE Joseph Blacksmith 1821 Joseph Orange, blacksmith. Born about 1821 ?where? (not in Lincolnshire. The 1841 UK census lists Joseph as 20yrs, living at Grantham, Lincolnshire.    
PALMER Arthur John Blacksmith 1885 Arthur John Palmer, blacksmith. Born 1885 at Grimsby Lincolnshire, England. Arthur was the son of John Palmer a Market Gardner. Worked at Market Rasen, Married 1908 Ellen Wilkinson. Moved to Gartorpe Leicestershire then on to Sproxton where he worked as a blacksmith in the Iron works. Arthur died 1951. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.  
PHILLIPS. Joshua Blacksmith 1813 Joshua Phillips born 1813 Alvingham Lincolnshire England. Listed in the 1851, 1861, 1871 census in the parish of Raithby by Spilsby Linconshire. He died in 1876 at Raithby by Spilsby Lincolnshire.  
PHILLIPSON Arthur Blacksmith 1876 Arthur Phillipson, blacksmith. Born about 1876, Alvingham, Lincolnshire, England. The 1901 UK census lists Arthur as 25yrs, unmarried, a boarder at Centre Village, Tetney, Lincolnshire. In 1911 Arthur is 35yrs, living at Tetney Grimsby, with wife Florence Jane nee Stamp 32yrs (born Tetney abt.1879 and died 1926). Children: Mary Evelyn 4yrs (born Tetney 12 April 906 and died 1986 Cheltenham, Gloucester age 79yrs) and Annie Louisa 1yr infant (born Tetney June quarter 1910 and died aged 13yrs, 4th quarter of 1923 at Louth, see FMP 7a/643). Arthur was a blacksmith at Tetney for the years 1901, 1905, 1910, 1911, 1919. Arthur’s parents were Charles Phillipson and Rebecca Fletcher.  
PHILLIPSON Frederick Thomas Blacksmith 1901 Frederick Thomas Phillipson, blacksmith. Born 14 June 1901 in Alvingham. Federick’s parents were George Phillipson and Fanny Smith. He married Betsey Chapman in 1922. Frederick died on 27 November 1989 in Alvingham Betsy died on 26 July 1967 in Alvingham they had three children.  
PIGGOTT John Blacksmith 1833 John Pigott, blacksmith, blacksmith. Born 1833, Lakenheath, Suffolk, England. Son of Elizabeth Piggott, schoolmistress (unmarried), at Lakenheath. His mother married Henry Brown, blacksmith of Lakenheath, Christmas Day 1841, and John took his stepfather's trade. On his travels he married Sarah Reading at Stamford, Lincs in 1860. 8 children were born to this marriage, in Lakenheath, Peterborough and Stamford, of whom 5 (3 boys, 2 girls) lived to adulthood. Ended his life out of work living in poor housing in Stamford after his wife died in childbirth 1873; he died in May 1892. His daughters moved to Leicester, and did not marry; two of the sons joined the railway, married and had families in Rugby and Nuneaton/Stamford; and the eldest surviving son (George Henry) stayed in business in Stamford, where he married but had no children. PRIESTLEY William Blacksmith 1816 William Priestley, master blacksmith. Born 1816 in Potterhanworth, Lincolnshire, England. Christened on 6 September 1816 in St Andrews Church, Potterhanworth. Son of Edward Priestley and Ann Cooling. He married Eliza Thompson on 29 Jan 1838. They had 17 children. William was the Village Blacksmith in Thimbleby, Lincolnshire on 1841 to 1891 census when he was living with his second wife Christia Brader. He died 18 Dec 1894 in Thimbleby at the age of 78 and is buried in St Margaret's Churchyard, Thimbleby. A number of his sons went on to be Blacksmiths and Coach Builders.

REED Richard Blacksmith 1831 Richard Reed, blacksmith. Born about 1831, Lincolnshire. The 1841 UK census lists him as 10yrs, living with his family in Bransby,Linc. In 1851 Richard is 19yrs, still in Bransby with parents. 1961: Richard is 28yrs, at Bransby with wife Margaret 27yrs (born Coates.Lincs.). Children: William 3yrs; Ann 1yr. REED Stephen Blacksmith 1802 Stephen Reed, blacksmith. Born about 1802, Lincolnshire. The 1841 UK census lists him as 39yrs, at Bransby, Lincoln; with wife Elizabeth Reed 50yrs. Children: Elizabeth 15yrs; Ann 11yrs; Richard 10yrs. In 1851 Stephen is listed as 48yrs, Elizabeth 60yrs. Children: Ann 20yrs; Richard 19yrs (blacksmith).  
REVILL Charles Blacksmith 1835 Charles Revill, blacksmith. Born about 1835, Claypole, Lincolnshire, England. Charles married Rebecca Elston in the December quarter of 1868, Nottingham Vol: 7b Page 397. Daughter of blacksmith Edward Elston (born 1795) and Mary nee Mason (born 1801). The family moved to Claypole in Lincolnshire and stayed there. After Edward died, Charles carried on work of his father-in-law as Blacksmith there. See entry for Rebecca’s father Edward Elston. The 1871 UK census lists Charles as 36yrs, still living at Claypole, Rebecca 30yrs and daughter Rebecca J. 6mths infant.

Stephen was a blacksmith for 53 years at Irby Upon Humber, Lincs. He took over the blacksmiths from a man called Tuplin. SMITH William Blacksmith 1795 William Smith, blacksmith. Born about 1795 in Ruskington, Linconshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists William with both sons John and Robert journeyman blacksmiths. See 1851 census - Lincolnshire aswarby emmu 7 HO107/2101.  
SORFLEET Thomas Blacksmith 1837 Thomas Sorfleet, blacksmith. Born 1837in Horncastle,Lincolnshire. Appears to have spent all of his life in Horncastle except to marry his bride, Lucy Louisa COUPLAND in 1867 in Barnsley District, Yorks. She came originally from Stickney,Lincs. He started out as a shoemakers apprentice in 1851, progressing to shoeing smith in 1861. From 1871 until 1901 he was a blacksmith. In 1885 he was also publican of the "Cricketers Arms", 36 North Street, Horncastle. Thomas died in 1915 in Horncastle District, aged 79. He & Lucy had 6 children which I've found.  
SPICK Robert Blacksmith 1841 Robert Spick, blacksmith. Born 9 April 1841 in Little Gonerby, Lincolnshire, England. Robert worked for Richard Hornsby & Sons, Grantham. Arrived NZ as an 'Albertland' settler with wife Jane on 'Gertrude' in January 1863. Worked at Waimate North for Bedggood family and then at Te Kopuru and other places on the Northern Wairoa before taking up land at Paparoa and running a smithy there from the 1870s. Killed felling a tree at Paparoa 2 April 1887. Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and New Zealand.  
SPOONER Robert Blacksmith 1807 Robert Spooner, blacksmith journeyman. Born about 1807 in Boston, Lincolnshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Robert as 44yrs, living in Trimmingham with wife Mary Ann 46yrs (born Northrepps, Norfolk). Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
STOCKDALE William Blacksmith 1778 William Stockdale, blacksmith. Born 1778 in Hammeringham, Lincolnshire, England and died 1865 in Friskney, Lincolnshire. Seems to have been a blacksmith in Friskney all his working life. Wife Mary. Children (5): Sarah, Ann, Benjamin, Sally & Joh.

The 1841 census lists John as living in Hagworthingham, occupation Blacksmith. Census 1851 & 1861 living in Mareham le Fen, occupation Blacksmith Journeyman. And census 1871 & 1881 was living in West Street, Horncastle, occupation Blacksmith. John died in 1886.

The 1881 UK census lists him as 57yrs, at Roman Bank (Vulcan Terrace),Skegness, Lincoln; with wife Mary 55yrs (born Skegness). Children: Elizabeth 27yrs, unmarried; Annie 20yrs, unmarried; William 15yrs (blacksmith); Minnie 12yrs; Ada. E. 3yrs.

TAYLOR Thomas Blacksmith 1794 Thomas Taylor (Jnr), master blacksmith, employs 1 apprentice. Born 28th October 1794 in Metheringham or Timberland, Lincolnshire, England. Died 10th May 1876. His father was Thomas Taylor (Snr) of Metheringham. The 1841 UK census lists Thomas (Jnr) as 46yrs, at Billinghay, Hamlet of Walcot, Lincs. with wife Mary nee Tyler, 35yrs(born 20th April 1801 in Martin, Lincolnshire & died 1889); daughter of Robert Tyler. Children listed: William 16yrs; John 14yrs; Mary 11yrs; Elizabeth 7yrs; Thomas 1yr infant. Also listed: apprentice blacksmith Thomas Smith 17yrs. In 1851 UK Thomas is 57yrs, living at Town, Walcot; with Mary 48yrs. Children listed 1851: Mary 19yrs & Thomas 11yrs. Also listed is apprentice William Lloyd 20yrs of Walcott. Thomas (Jnr) Taylor was the owner of the smithy at Walcott and was also known to be a great fighter. I have a copy of his basic WILL pasted onto the family bible.

The 1851 UK census lists William as 20yrs, living in Walpole St Peter, Newcroft, Wisbech, Norfolk. Also listed is blacksmith apprentice Thomas West 19yrs (born West Walton, Norfolk). William is listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
WALKER George Blacksmith 1805 George Walker, blacksmith. Born in Caistor, Lincolnshire, England. Died 1875. Parents: Thomas and Sarah Walker. George appears to have been in this trade all of his adult life and his youngest child Frederick Walker (b. 1849) also continued in this trade. No apprenticeship papers have yet surfaced shedding any light on his education as a blacksmith, so the source of his skills are unknown. It seems possible he may have been taught by a friend or family member.

Born 1836 and Baptised 12 February 1836 at St Peter’s Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire, England. The 1841 UK census lists Charles as 5yrs, living in ?Whitecross Lane, Barton with his parents George Watmough 35yrs(baker) and Jane 35yrs. Siblings: Mary 11yrs; Ann 9yrs; Jane 7yrs; George 4yrs; William 2yrs. Servants: Frank Haworth 20yrs; Nancy Sergeant 15yrs and David Laton 15yrs. In 1851 Charles is 15yrs, apprenticed to master blacksmith John. W. Watt at Waterside Road, Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire. In 1871 Charles. R. M. Watmough is 36yrs, a publican living in St Martins’ Court Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland; with wife Dorothy 39yrs and his brother James Watmough 16yrs. Servant Rose Haggan 20yrs.

The 1851 UK census lists John as 25yrs, living in Waterside Road, Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire, England with wife Fanny 32yrs (born Barton on Humber) and son John 2yrs. Also listed is mother-in-law Mary Martin 70yr and apprentice blacksmith Charles Watmough 15yrs (born Barton on Humber). In 1861 Fanny is 40yrs, widowed, living in Lambeth with her son John.W. Watt (Jnr) 18yrs and daughter Emma. E. Watt 6yrs. Her mother Mary Martin, widow, is 84yrs. Listed in the blacksmiths of Lincolnshire & Scotland.

He is listed in the 1881 Census as a Blacksmith ibn Cuxwodl (where they had four children), They moved to Saltfleetby St.Peter by 1886 (where they had another five children) and to Louth by 1901 where he is still listed in the Census as a Blacksmith. His profession was missing in the 1871 Census, but he is listed in White's 1872 Lincolnshire Directory as Parish Clerk and Blacksmith: a similar entry is given in the 1881 Census. He was still a Blacksmith in Ashby cum Fenby in 1891 (aged 81) and his sons Thomas, John and George Parker West all followed him as Blacksmiths, as did two of his grandsons, George W. and Joseph West. WEST William Blacksmith 1727 William West, blacksmith. Born (probably) in Irby around 1727 (according to the death record) and died December 1816. William was the father of Edward West of Laceby (see Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire). He was the ancestor of several other Wests and was the great grandfather of Charles Baines' wife (not Charles’ direct ancestor). William was The record of his marriage with Mary Otley in Swallow in 1752 identifies him as "of Irby, blacksmith". William and Mary had three children in Irby (including Edward), but then seem to have moved to Beelsby, where they had two children, and where they died. Visit site

In 1851 and 1861 he is living and working on Caistor Road Laceby. His youngest child Emma was my Gt Grandmother. Williams brother Joseph also worked as a farrier in the village in the 1850s.

He married Sarah Wilson in Alvingham in 1812 by whom he had six sons and two daughters. According to the 1841 and 1851 censuses, he was a blacksmith, living in Gayton-le-Marsh. All but one of his sons also became blacksmiths. Widowed, he died in Gayton in 1867.  
WING Elkanah Blacksmith 1833 Elkanah Wing, master blacksmith. Born about 1833, Whaplode, Lincolnshire, England. The 1861 UK census lists Elkanah as 28yrs, at Gedney Marsh, Lincolnshire ; with wife Emma 24yrs (born Lincoln) and daughter Sarah. A. Wing, 3mths infant. In 1871 Elkanah is 38yrs, still at Gedney; Emma 32yrs. Children: Sarah.A. 11yrs; Charlotte 8yrs; Thomas 2yrs;. Also listed : Thomas Blackmore, 18yrs, apprentice blacksmith. 1881: Elkanah 48yrs; Emma 43yrs. Children: John 17yrs(see Blacksmiths of LINC); Thomas 13yrs; George 11yrs; Emma 7yrs; Henry 3yrs; Samuel 1yr infant. ELkanah moved to the USA sometime before 1900.  
WING John Elkanah Blacksmith 1864 John Elkanah Wing, blacksmith. Born about 1864, Dawesmere, Lincolnshire,England. The 1881 UK census lists him as 17yrs, at Dawesmere with his family. See Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire for parents master blacksmith Elkanah and Emma Wing plus siblings. In 1911 John is 48yrs; wife Hannah 50yrs. Children: Charles 25yrs, single; John Thomas 24yrs labourer), single (carter) ; George Henry 22yrs (private soldier).  
WOOD David Blacksmith 1831 David Wood, blacksmith. Born about 1831, Sibsey, Lincolnshire, England. The 1861 UK census lists David as 30yrs, living at East Fen, Leake , Lincolnshire with wife Sarah Jane 26yrs. Children: Mary Ann 3yrs; Rebecca Jane 5mths infant. House servant M. Ann Walker 18yrs. Apprentice blacksmith John Madinson 17yrs. Apprentice blacksmith John Allen 13yrs.    
WOOD William Blacksmith 1829 William Wood, blacksmith. Born 1829. One of a long line of blacksmiths in Burton upon Stather. Moved with his wife Maria Sophia to London for reasons unknown and is listed in the 1881 census as employed in Poplar as a smith at "the works". Shortly thereafter Maria Sophia died and William returned to Burton where he is next found on the 1901 census working as a postman at the ripe old age of 72. (William's brother Septimus was the postmaster.) William was my great great grandfather.  
WOOD William Thomas Blacksmith 1849 William Thomas Wood, blacksmith. Born 1849, in Horncastle and died 1890,in Crowland, Lincolnshire, England. William married Maryann Ladlow in Louth 1869.  
WOODCOCK Thomas Blacksmith 1714 Thomas Woodcock, blacksmith of Bourne, Lincolnshire wrote his Will in 1714 whilst "sick in body", but went on to live until 1728. He names his sons John and William, both under the age of 23 and Rebecca his wife. Other beneficaries were Jarvis Yates of Swinstead and Rebecca his wife, Richard Arnold of Bourne, Peter Bull of Bourne who married daughter Elizabeth at Bourne in 1705, daughter Mary who married William Harte in 1710 at Bourne, and daughter Pierse Woodcock who married Thomas Burtoft at Dowsby in 1728. Thomas Woodcock left his Smith's Bellows to his Kinsman John Watts which he had brought of Rovert Bovill. It is considered that Jane Woodcock, wife of John Bland also mentioned on the Lincolnshire Blacksmith pages was related to Thomas Woodcock, as her father  
WOODWARD Thomas Blacksmith 1808 Thomas Woodward, blacksmith master. Born about 1808 in Tidd Goat, Lincolnshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Thomas as 43yrs, living in Wisbech, Norfolk. with wife Allice 43yrs (born Terrington, Norfolk). Listed in Blacksmith of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.    
WRIGHT George Blacksmith 1820 George Wright,master blacksmith. Born January 1920, in Rampton, Nottinghamshire. Parents: George Wright (blacksmith) and Sarah nee Woodhouse. 1851: a Journeyman Blacksmith in Oweston, Lincolnshire. 1861: a Master Blacksmith in Low Burnham, Haxey, Lincolnshire where he seems to have settled to bring up his family with wife Ann. He is still there in 1901 and still apparently a Blacksmith of 'own account'at the age of 80. Listed in both Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.  
WRIGHT George Blacksmith 1783 George Wright, blacksmith, Born about 1783 in Normanton, Nottinghamshire. Married Sarah Woodhouse in North Leverton, Notts and by 1841 was Blacksmith at Risby, Walesby, Lincolnshire. In 1861 living with son Joseph at Bole, Notts where he died in 1867 - buried St Martin's Church, Bole, Nottinghamshire. Listed in both Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.  
YOUNG Christopher Blacksmith 1793 Christopher Young, blacksmith. Born about 1793 in Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, England. The 1851 UK census lists Christopher as 58yrs, lodging in Town Street, Wisbech, Norfolk . Listed in Blacksmiths of Lincolnshire and Norfolk
